‘Your lovely calm can do attitude always gets the best from everyone’
Experience
I have over 35 years’ experience as a professional conservator working in museums and historic houses, including 24 years with the National Trust, a large proportion of which were in senior conservation and advisory roles. I have significant expertise in emergency salvage, collections care and storage and in the protection of collections and historic interiors during building works and events. I have extensive experience delivering training within the National Trust and on the Historic England Salvage Disaster Recovery Course.
Skills
I feel passionately about conservation and sharing my knowledge with others. I have a pragmatic and flexible approach to my work and enjoy applying my professional knowledge and experience to solve complex problems and create practical solutions. I am hard working, an excellent communicator and proficient at planning and delivery. I have developed a broad range of project management and prioritisation skills through my involvement in a wide range of collections care activities, building projects and emergency incidents.
Planning
I provide advice, guidance, training and practical support to safeguard historic collections. This includes emergency salvage planning; emergency procedures; dealing with emergency incidents and post-incident recovery; and delivering practical training. I offer project planning, protection and storage advice during interventions such as building works, redisplay, or events to ensure collections and historic interiors are kept safe. I provide collections cleaning, care and collections care training tailored to specific needs.
