Experience

Following formal conservation training from the Courtauld Institute of Art, I set up in private practice in 2010 specializing in the conservation of paintings and collection management.

I was National Specialist Assistant Adviser on paintings conservation for the National Trust between 2017 and 2020, and prior to that conserving the outstanding painting collection on the Inspired by Knole HLF funded project.

Specialists

In my private practice, I work alongside a core studio team who specialize in paintings whilst drawing on a network of expertise across other disciplines, including technical art historians and curators, to better understand the needs of an object. I am experienced at quoting and working with stakeholders to find the best treatment plan for collections and individual works of art. Please see my website for more detail.

Research

Equipped with up to date knowledge of conservation methods and using high-grade reversible materials, I aim to minimize an object’s deterioration whilst reviving its aesthetic qualities.

My decisions are underpinned by art historical and technical research, and of course the “spirit of a place”. I understand that historic collections are complex, possessing tangible and intangible value.
